maine artist karen gelardi's work is focused on organic forms, both natural and invented. her contemporary nature studies combine drawing, sculpture and textiles to create 2- and 3-dimensional collages and installations. her work was recently the subject of a solo exhibition titled thicket at the center for maine contemporary art and included in matter at SPACE gallery.
